Call of Duty 2025: What You Need to Know?

Long before the announcement of Black Ops 6, there had been discussions in the CoD community regarding Call of Duty 2025. The reason for this ongoing speculation regarding Call of Duty 2025 stems from Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, which was released in 2012 but set in 2025. Fans had expected Black Ops 3 to be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2 but that was never the case. We never received any information whatsoever about a direct sequel until now. Activision, specifically Infinity Ward (not Treyarch this time), has been working on Call of Duty 2025, which is a sequel to Black Ops 2. Here’s everything you need to know about that game.

Why a Black Ops 2 Sequel?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 was, and still is, a fan-favorite in the CoD community. The campaign is highly praised, the multiplayer still holds up, and the Zombies mode is considered one of the best, featuring iconic maps like TranZit, Alcatraz (Mob of the Dead), and Nuketown Zombies. Because of this, Black Ops 2 left a lasting impact on many people’s childhoods. It was so successful that nearly everyone wanted a direct continuation of the story. This is why Activision is planning to release a sequel to Black Ops 2. Furthermore, the popularity of CoD has been in decline since Vanguard, which had a long-term negative impact on the series. A Black Ops 2 sequel could potentially revive the franchise to its former glory.

Minimum Specs to Play Call of Duty 2025

While there’s no official information about the minimum specs required to run Black Ops 2025, it’s safe to assume that it will need a PC capable of running ‘at least Black Ops 6’ without breaking a sweat. The minimum specs for Black Ops 6 are:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (latest update)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600
  • RAM: 8 GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 470, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960, or Intel Arc A580
  • Video Memory: 2 GB
  • Storage Space: SSD with 102 GB available space at launch

The game may require a slightly better CPU, perhaps something like an Intel Core i5 7th gen, and will most certainly need 100+ gigabytes of space allocation on the storage device.

Recommended Specs

To run Black Ops 2025 smoothly with all settings set to high, here are the recommended specs:

  • OS: Windows 10 64-bit (latest update) or Windows 11 64-bit (latest update)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600X or Intel Core i7-6700K
  • RAM: 12 GB
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6600XT or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080Ti / RTX 3060
  • Video Memory: 8 GB
  • Storage Space: SSD with 102 GB available space at launch

Again, the CPU might need to be a bit better—something like an Intel Core i7 7th gen should get the job done.

Call of Duty 2025 Pricing

Since the release of Modern Warfare II (MWII, 2022), Activision has adopted the norm of releasing two editions for Call of Duty titles: the Standard Edition for $70 and the Vault Edition for $100, which includes additional perks like early access to the Open Beta, new skins, in-game tokens, and bundles. Black Ops 6 even offered BlackCell during the first season for free to the owners of Vault Edition. With this in mind, Black Ops 2025 will likely follow the same pricing structure: $70 for the Standard Edition and $100 for the Vault Edition.

Will It Be on Xbox Game Pass?

Microsoft now fully owns Activision and Call of Duty, so the tech giant can add just any Call of Duty game there is to its subscription service. However, the game won’t be available on all tiers of Xbox Game Pass. You must be subscribed to Xbox Game Pass Standard to access Call of Duty 2025 the day it rolls out worldwide.

After acquiring Activision, Microsoft added Modern Warfare III to Game Pass nearly a year later but with Black Ops 6, it was announced that the game would land on Game Pass right at release. It’s almost a certainty that Call of Duty 2025 will be on Xbox Game Pass, and you might as well get early access to the open beta if you have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.

Gameplay and Mechanics

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2025 (possibly Call of Duty Black Ops 7) will feature Campaign, Multiplayer, and Zombies modes. Rumors suggest that the Black Ops 7 campaign will be set in 2035, with David Mason as the main character once again. The story will pick up after the events of Black Ops 2 i.e., after Raul Menendez’s demise. While we don’t have confirmation about Alex Mason, there’s a strong possibility that he died in Black Ops 2, as suggested by Miles Leslie (Associate Creative Director at Treyarch). But since this year’s Call of Duty slogan is ‘The Truth Lies’ so I’m not quite sure as to what Leslie is implying.

As for Multiplayer, expect to see some refined versions of Black Ops 2 maps, along with new maps inspired by locations from the campaign. Nuketown will almost certainly make a return, along with other fan-favorite maps like Hijacked, Express, Standoff, and Raid. The inclusion of these classic maps will likely drive the game’s sales to new heights. Some maps from Black Ops 6 may also make an appearance, much like how MW2 maps appeared in MW3.

Zombies mode is expected to feature updated versions of TranZit, Nuketown Zombies, and Alcatraz (Mob of the Dead). There’s also a strong chance that the game will include a round-based Zombies mode, which made its return in Black Ops 6.

As for movement mechanics, Black Ops 2025 is rumored to include Omnimovement 2.0, an upgraded version of movement introduced in Black Ops 6. Some YouTubers have speculated that the game will feature Wall Running and Wall Jumping, which were present in Black Ops 3.

And with all that said, you now have an idea of what to expect from Call of Duty 2025. Keep in mind that these are all rumors and may not be entirely accurate, but the chances that they are true are quite high. Some have even suggested that Call of Duty 2025 will be called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare IV, continuing the story of Modern Warfare III. But for now, there’s no need to worry—just enjoy grinding in Black Ops 6. Happy gaming!
